Serious Sweets are an award-winning connoisseur of fudges, sweets and confectionary products with a long trade record of producing branded products for high street brands, including Harrods and Asda.

THE BRIEF

Through an exisiting relationship with Harrods, Serious Sweet were introduced to Tinpac to develop a high-value, stand-out packaging product for their new Clotted Cream Fudge product.

The brief was to develop a Fudge gifting offer for Harrods stores nationwide. A key design aspect was to uphold the strong brand value of Harrods, while creating a visually strong tactile and eye-catching design. Something that would have difficult to achieve in other packaging materials, such as plastic.

THE SOLUTION

Working with a design agency, Tinpac were provided with a unique patterned design that incorporated the Harrods brand.

Using embossed decoration, this design was used to create an incredible tactile finish to a luxury gold-colour print using custom-made tooling.

Following on for the first production run, the Tinpac team worked with the client to further develop the product to remove the need for a center label using direct tinplate printing, that saved time and cost in their supply chain.

THE RESULTS

  • Higher Than Expected Sell-Through-Rates
    This unqiue product had a higher than usual sell-through-rate than other gifting options, resulting in multiple production runs.
  • Elevated Price Point
    Using luxury custom-designed tin packaging, the client achieved a higher price point for their Fudge product as a gifting option. Increasing overall product margins.
  • Reduced Time and Cost
    Removing the need for manually applied labelling, the client was able to save considerable time and cost within their packing facility.
